Guys. GUYS. My makeup obsession is out of control these days. I don’t how this happened to me. Up until about a year ago I stuck to the same ‘ol Covergirl concealer stick and L’oreal Voluminous blackest black mascara that I’d used since high school. Then one trip to a Nordstrom makeup counter wizard and one Ipsy subscription later…BAM! I am totally obsessed. There’s no going back now. I am a full blown addict.
It always starts small, a gold eyeshadow here…a blue eyeliner that you use once there. Before you know it you have a drawer full of at least 40 shades of lipstick and are watching YouTube tutorials about contouring. It happened to me, it can happen to you to. Be open to it! I view makeup as a personal form of creative expression.
Now, while I am addicted to makeup, I’m also quite fond of saving money. Anyone who has ever stepped foot in a Sephora knows the sticker shock that can come along with some of the brands. I do believe in investing in some of the formulas that you will use the most, but I also love finding affordable brands that don’t make you sacrifice quality. Enter the newest love of my life…Colourpop Cosmetics.
If you follow any beauty blogs or like makeup, you’ve probably heard of the company. If you haven’t heard of them…think ELF but better. The online retailer has gained a pretty loyal following in the cosmetics community because of their product’s high pigment payoff and luxurious feeling formulas.
They encourage you to use fingers instead of brushes to apply highlighters and shadows, which is fine by me because I HATE washing my brushes. The Ultra Satin lippie formula might be one of the best lipsticks I’ve ever tried. It is not drying and it lasts all day, it is the perfect solution if you are sick of the matte game. The best part….almost nothing is over $10. Here are some of my favorite products that I’ve tried so far. What should I order next?
EDIT: Pro tip from my sister – follow ColourPopCosmetics on Snapchat and they swatch all of the new products when they come out on multiple skin tones!
