Fly as Hell Thanksgiving Outfits

I would like to start this post with one of my favorite tweets:

It’s funny because it’s so true, my sister and I always get dressed to the 9s on Thanksgiving. And for what? So we can sit on the couch watching football with our grandma? Play basketball in the backyard with our little cousins? It doesn’t make any sense. And yet – the trend continues. This year is no different, don’t count on me showing up for turkey day in yoga pants – no way!

There’s something about a holiday that makes dressing up a necessity no matter what activities you have planned. Here are some fall layering trends to try so you can walk around the kitchen fly as hell this year.

To achieve this look, layer a long bell sleeve top under a dress with a less fitted shape. Wear your usual black ankle boots with crew socks that hit above the top of the boot.

Wear these printed wide leg pants or a jumpsuit with a fitted turtleneck and bomber jacket for a chic yet maximalist look.

Get this look by layering a light weight button down under a slip dress or *gasp* actual slip. Pair with the loafers I know you already bought for the season and your crew socks from the last look. Top with a chunky knit cardigan.

To steal this style tuck a sporty top into a printed midi pencil skirt. Pair with sneakers and of course your crew socks and you’re lookin’ fine to walk around the kitchen until your turkey is ready.

This look really is all about the jacket (or this & this & this). Pair with your favorite black skinny jeans, tuck in a vintage band shirt (ala Chelsea Handler) and some ankle boots and you are ready to rock and roll.

Would you rock any of these looks for your Thanksgiving festivities? Let me know which one you are feelin’ in the comments!
